The CRAT manages various research projects, including both clinical and genetic data in one system to allow investigators to easily add, maintain, and query their data. Genetic/SNP information can be formatted and analyzed with different genetic programs. The main Generic Clinical Research Database (GCRD) application is built on an Oracle 10g backend with an open source language and utilizes a controlled vocabulary to allow for cross-study analysis and recruitment with proper IRB approvals. The customized data acquisition by feed or web interface reduces errors and increases data integrity. Ultimately, programs such as Merlin, Plink, Genehunter, and others are used to identify significant genes within a study.
